Where Do You Dwell?
“Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place—the Most High, who is my refuge— no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent.”
Where do you dwell? Where does your heart live?
Everyone lives somewhere, but I’m not talking about houses, apartments, or condos but even then those places do bring up the ideas of safety, and where we want to run to when evil comes. We want to go home.
Whenever bad things happen, people want a place to retreat to where they know there is safety. In ancient Israel they had Masada. It was a fortress that had stores of food and water and was considered impenetrable. It was a complete place of dwellings and fortifications that could provide safety and protection. But like anything on this natural earth we should never trust in human dwellings. (If you want to read more about Masada you can go here – link to story of Masada.)
When God Almighty is the only place you run to when trouble comes (your refuge), and is the constant place of your dwelling you have a much surer place of protection than the wall of an ancient fort.
The promise of God is that NO EVIL shall be allowed to fall upon you, and NO PLAGUE can come near your tent. Always remain in the dwelling place of the Most High God!
Confession: “I have made the Lord my dwelling place, and my refuge. No evil is allowed to befall me, and no plagues come near me, my family, or my home.
